McClatchy Lions Cross Country /Track and Field

Highlights from the Clarke Massey Relays:
*Kate Hemesath wins the high jump with an Arcadia Qualifying height of 5’02”
*Frosh/Soph Boys 4×800 team of Ben Cook Appel, Lucas Brown, Sujadullah, Amarhil and Max Li takes first place.
*Frosh/Soph Distance Medley Relay Team of Rowan Kliman, Ethan Roach, Max Li and Owen Anderson takes first place. The same team also won the 4×400 Relay putting the Frosh/Soph Boys Team in first place overall! Congrats to ALL the athletes who competed well. Many others achieved personal bests! Go Lions!

All athletes interested in Track & Field need to complete the required paperwork (see link on the left). Conditioning starts on Monday January 8th and will generally be held Monday-Thursday, 3:45-5:20 at the track.

Congrats to ALL the athletes who raced in the Sections Championships on Saturday! The Freshmen Boys started off the day with a win! They were led by Ayden Celeste finishing 3rd overall! Also scoring for the Lions were Ben Wilson, Ben Cook-Appel, Ethan Roach and Sujadullah Amarkhil. On the Varsity squads, the Lions have 2 athletes moving on to the State Championships! Louie McNatt was 3rd overall in a PR for the course of 18:54. She also ranks #3 on McClatchy’s All-Time list for the course. She led the Varsity Girls to a 6th place finish (moved up 1 place from Subsections). Also scoring for the Lions were Olivia Johnson, Alena Wong, Stella Louney and Brooke Kirchner. Alec Redmond is also heading to the State Championships finishing 10th overall in a PR for the course of 16:19! He now ranks #2 on McClatchy’s All-Time list. Jonas Johnson was the top sophomore in the varsity race, finishing 12th overall in a PR of 16:26. He made McClatchy’s top 10 list coming in at #9. Also scoring for the Lions were Jax Leon, Owen Anderson and Rowan Kliman. Most improved performances of the meet go to Ethan Roach, Alena Wong and Jonas Johnson. Finally, a huge shout out to Coach Templeton for running the show! Go Lions!

Congrats to the Freshmen Boys, Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys Teams who are all moving on to the Section Championships next week at Willow Hills! Also, sophomores Connor McGinness and Jacob Wehling are also moving on as individuals. Break out performances of the meet go to Ayden Celeste, Ben Wilson, Owen Anderson and Bell Neff. Go Lions!

Metro Championships 2022 done! The Lions went 4 for 4 winning the team title in all divisions! The frosh/soph girls team put all 5 scorers in the top 12; Joy McDaniel, Grace Bardsley, Peri Cressman, Katie Locke and Madison Clark. In the frosh/soph boys race, Owen Anderson took the individual title, followed by Ayden Celeste, Ben Wilson, Connor McGinness and Jacob Wehling. For the Varsity Girls, Louie McNatt ran away with the individual title, in a blazing time of 17:58! Also scoring for the Lions were Olivia Johnson, Stella Louney, Brooke Kirchner and Alena Wong. The Varsity Boys dominated with Alec Redmond leading in 15:39; a McClatchy course record! Sam Rounds, Jax Leon, Jonas Johnson and Rowan Kliman went 3,4,5, and 10 to put the LIons in first place by 30 points. The boys also set a McClatchy team time record by 45 seconds! The most improved for the meet goes to Malik Norris and Ella Sebok. Both took more than 2 minutes off their times from Metro 1. Go Lions!
