McClatchy Lions Cross Country /Track and Field

The Freshmen Boys started off the day with a win! Led by the trio of Ben Cook-Appel, Ayden Celeste and Owen Correia. The next three Lions, Ethan Roach, Sujadullah Amarkil and Ben Wilson, weren’t too far behind with the top 6 all finishing within 54 seconds. The Sophomore Boys followed with a 5th place team finish. The top 5 (Max Li, Connor McGinness, Rowan Kliman, Owen Anderson and Jacob Wehling) all finished within 20 seconds of each other! The Varsity Boys team took 7th place led by a 5th place individual finish from Alec Redmond. He ran a course PR of 55 seconds and is now #3 on McClatchy’s All-Time list for the course. Also scoring for the LIons were Jax Leon, Sam Rounds, Alex Li and Joseph Henly. On the girls side, the Frosh/Soph team took 6th place. Stella Louney led the team, followed by Joy McDaniel, Grace Bardsley, Alena Wong and Katie Locke. The Varsity Girls took 8th place, once again led by Louie McNatt with a second place overall finish, a course PR by 51 seconds and the second fastest McClatchy time ever on the course. Other scoring runners for the Lions were Olivia Johnson, Colette Combrink, Brooke Kirchner and Claire Mills. Great job everyone conquering Big Mamma, Little Sister and the heat! Go Lions!

The Varsity Girls started off the morning with an impressive 2nd place finish by Louie McNatt! It was the second fastest ever by a McClatchy runner on that course. She was followed by Olivia Johnson, Jillian Palmer, Brooke Kirchner and Colette Combrink for an 8th place team finish out of 18 teams. The Varsity Boys also had a strong start with Alec Redmond, Sam Rounds and Jax Leon all medalling. Alec and Sam also made McClatchy’s top list at #3 and #7, respectively. Alex Li and Joseph Henly rounded out the top 5 and helped the team to a 9th place finish out of 28. The Frosh/Soph girls were up next with a 10th place finish. They were led by sophomore Stella Louney and other scoring runners were Joy McDaniel, Grace Bardsley, Alena Wong and Katie Locke. The Sophomore Boys team came in 5th, led by Connor McGinness. Owen Anderson, Connon McGinness, Max Li and Jonah Darling completed the top 5. Last, but not least, the Freshmen Boys had the highest team finish of the day coming in 4th. They were led by Ayden Celeste with a 4th place individual finish. The other scorers were Owen Correia, Ben Wilson, Adam Barnard and Santiago Godnick. Great job to ALL the athletes who competed in our first meet! Go Lions!

Incredible weekend at Woodward Park! Anna McNatt won the D1 State Championship individual title and led the team to a 16th place finish! Louie McNatt was 2nd for the Lions in 18:56, a PR and 5th on McClatchy’s all-time list. Olivia Johnson also made McClatchy’s top 10 all-time list, coming in at #8 with a PR of 19:20. The only senior on the squad, Olivia Correia took the 4th spot for the Lions. Jillian Palmer ran a PR by over a minute to fill in the 5th spot. Stella Louney and Brooke Kirchner also ran PRs by more than 30 seconds to finish out their seasons. Go Lions!

Amazing day at Willow Hills! The Varsity Girls secured a 3rd place finish to qualify for the State Championships! Anna McNatt led the way with a 17:26; the fastest time of the day by 40 seconds and the 2nd fastest time in Section history! Louie McNatt and Olivia Johnson came through with huge course PR’s to finish 11th and 13th overall. Senior Olivia Correia took the 4th spot for McClatchy and freshman Stella Louney, running her first 5K ever, was 5th for the Lions. These five, along with Jillian Palmer and Brooke Kirchner will be competing at the State Championships on November 27th. The Varsity Boys finished 6th, led by seniors Kai Sorensen and Jackson Wedel, both finishing in the top 20. All 7 varsity boys (Kai, Jackson, Alec Redmond, Fletcher Lux, Jackson Evans, Ryan Tang and Joe Bogdan) ran course PR’s! The Frosh/Soph girls were represented by Colette Combrink, Emily Stibor, Alena Wong and Chela Cobb, who all ran great races to finish out their season. The Frosh/Soph Boys team was 4th, led by Jax Leon and Jonas Johnson, finishing 2nd and 3rd overall. They are now #9 and #10 on McClatchy’s All-Time list. Sam Rounds also made the top 20 overall, finishing 13th. Max Li and Rowan Kliman came through with huge PR’s to fill in the 4th and 5th spots. Jaime Garcia and Owen Anderson also ran well for the boys, with Owen running a course PR of almost 3 minutes! Go Lions!
