The Varsity Boys looked strong once again this weekend taking 6th place out of 35 teams. Jonah was 9th of 241 runners in 15:49, followed by Steven and Derek in 16:08 and 16:10. Marcos and Emmett also came in under the 17 minute mark, with a 16:54 and 16:57. The Varsity Girls were 17th of 31 teams, with freshman Julia Heckey and sophomore Camille Combrink running the 3 mile varsity race for the first time in 20:50 and 22:02. The Frosh/Soph Boys took 13th out of 30, with freshmen Damon Lin leading the way in 11:45, followed by Parker and Nelson in 11:49 and 11:59. The JV girls placed 8th of 16 teams and were led by Esmeralda in 14:59, followed by Michelle and Katie in 15:32 and 15:42. Most Improved performances of the week go to Aldo, Jessica, Esmeralda and Damon. Great job everyone!
Great job this weekend! Varsity boys took first place, with a 1,2,4 finish by Jonah, Stephen and Derek, followed Emmett and Marcos who are moving up and closing the gap for the top 5. The frosh/soph boys also looked strong, finishing in 3rd, not too far behind two of the top teams in the section. Parker, Nelson and Damon led the way with top 10 finishes of 5th, 7th and 8th place. Ben and Jackson also closing the gap for the top 5 with 16th and 17th place finishes. The girls struggled with missing runners to injury, illness and ACT tests, but still turned in some good individual performances. Megan was our top runner for the girls in 15th place. Camille, Paige and Esmeralda continue show great improvements, blowing away their times from last year. Freshmen Katie Kawamoto and Angelina Jensen, along with sophomore Clara McNatt continue to improve as the season progresses.
Nice job at Lagoon Valley! The varsity athletes had a chance to run the 2 mile course once again and see their improvements over last year or two years ago.
The varsity boys took 4th out of 23 teams. Jonah took 2nd overall for the varsity boys in an impressive 11:00 (or 10:59.9 if we are being more precise). That’s a 42s pr for the course. Derek was 8th overall, with 11:12, a 58s course pr. Stephen was 23rd, with 11:34, a 15s course pr. Emmett and Marcos rounded out the top 5 for the varsity boys with 12:03 and 12:14.
The varsity girls also took 4th place out of 19 teams. Ashley led the team with a 13:45 followed by Justine in 14:07 (29s course pr), Megan (14:54), Sophia (1526) and Quincy (16:17).
The frosh/soph boys posted an impressive 6th place out 27 teams. They were led by Parker Van Ostrand in 12:14, who took 10th place out of 286 runners and was the first freshman. Nelson was 2nd for the CKM in 12:23 (1:51 faster than last year). Jackson (13:05), Damon (13:21) and Ben (13:41) rounded out the top 5.
The frosh/soph girls were one short of complete team, but had some great individual performances. Julia Heckey finished 7th out of 182 runners in 14:34 and Camille was 22nd in 15:38 (3s faster than last year).
The JV boys and girls also had incomplete teams, but some good individual races. Brian finished 8th of 214 runners in 12:37 and Michelle was 12th of 73 and showed great improvement over last week. Hilda also had a course pr of 5s despite the heat. Great job everyone!
We had some great performances on Saturday! Justine Kanzler led the varsity girls with a 15:37 and finished 17th out of 142, while Stephen Crocker led the varsity boys in 12:46 and was 10th of 188. Top performances in the frosh/soph race were by Nelson McMahon with a 14:26 (1:59 faster than last year) and freshman Julia Heckey, with a 16:40 and 10th of 187. Most improved goes to Esmeralda Jimenez for taking 2:33 off her time from last year. Other notable improvements were by Paige Anderson and Aldo Martinez, taking 1:44 and 1:42 off their times from last year. Great job!
All athletes, including incoming freshman, are strong encouraged to attend summer conditioning. We will meet Monday through Thursday at 6:30am in Land Park. Meet by the baseball fields at the corner of 13th street and 13th avenue. Athletes are required to have all their paperwork completed before they can participate. See the link above. They also need a good pair of running shoes and a water bottle for practice. A running watch is also useful.
