The Varsity Boys started off the day with almost everyone running a PR. Joe Wiley led the team with a 15:50, followed by Parker Van Ostrand and Nelson McMahon. Senior Colby Tell and sophomore Jackson Wedel stepped up with a huge PRs to take the 4th and 5th spots for the Lions. The boys were 23rd out of 43 teams. The Varsity Girls looked strong taking 11th place out of 28 teams. Julia Heckey led the pack, followed by Molly Dreher, Anna McNatt , Camille Combrink and Olivia Johnson; all with big PRs . In the Frosh/Soph boys race, Joe Bogdan took the top spot for the Lions with a PR of 12:06, followed by Kai Sorensen, Jackson Evans, Tait de Boer and Alexander Li; all with PRs. In the Open Boys race, Nick Tidwell, Alex Flores and Trevor Tillett represented the Lions with with a trio of PRs as well. Finally, in the Open Girls race the Lions took 4th place out of 13 teams, with Ellie Damian kicking it in for 6th place overall out of 202 runners. She was followed by Astrid Sanchez in 12th, Kary Soubinh in 20th and Billie Cooper and Claire Finney in 73rd and 74th. Go Lions!

It was a hot day at Willow Hills with temperatures reaching the upper 90s and on a tough course, athletes were really challenged! The Varsity Girls finished 10th overall and were led by Molly Dreher in 15th place out of 257. Freshman, Anna McNatt was 2nd for the Lions followed by Camille Combrink, Astrid Sanchez and Kary Soubinh. The Varsity Boys took 4th place out of 44 teams, and were led by Joe Wiley in 6th place out of 347. Parker Van Ostrand, Nelson McMahon and Damon LIn were 2, 3, 4 for the LIons. Sam Hemesath rounded out the top 5. The Frosh/Soph Boys were 8th and once again Jackson Wedel and Fletcher Lux led the Lions with an 8th and 12th place finish out of 294. Other top finishers for the Lions were Andrew Yee, Tait Deboer and Joe Bogdan. The Frosh/Soph Girls captured 3rd place overall, with Freshman Olivia Johnson leading the pack in 11th place out of 158. The sophomore crew of Harper Johnston, Olivia Correia, Michelle Wee and Larissa Yee completed the top 5. Most improved for this week goes to Molly Dreher and Alec Redmond. Great job everyone under tough conditions. Go Lions!

We started the day off strong with the Frosh/Soph Girls winning first place out of 34 teams, and Louie McNatt taking first place as an individual out of 330 runners! Louie’s time of 13:11 puts her at #2 on McClatchy’s all-time list. Anna also made the top 10 list with a 13:40 and finished 7th overall. Three, four and five for the Lions were Olivia Johnson, Olivia Correia and Michelle Wee. The girls also beat McClatchy’s previous team record for the course by over a minute. The Frosh/Soph Boys took 5th place out of 38 teams, led by Jackson Wedel (16th) and Fletcher Lux (21st). Strong finishes by Ryan Tang, Andrew Yee and Joe Bogdan helped the team to their 5th place finish. The Varsity Boys also had a strong showing, with 4 runners making the top 10 all-time list for McClatchy. Joe Wiley was 15th overall, now 2nd on McClatchy’s all-time list. Parker Van Ostrand, Damon Lin and Nelson McMahon also made the all-time list at #5, 9 and 10. Ben Yeargain rounded out the top 5 with a PR, and helping the team to a 7th place finish out of 30 teams. The Varsity Girls were led by Camille Combrink with PR of 21:39. Once again, 100% of runners ran their best time for this course. Most improved goes to Holdin Fong for dropping his per mile pace by 16s from last week, and Camille Combrink for running her 3 mile PR. Go Lions!

The racing season has begun and we are off to a great start! Varsity Girls took 8th out of 16, with Molly Dreher leading the way in her first cross country meet ever. Camille Combrink, Astrid Sanchez, Kary Soubinh and Clara McNatt rounded out the top 5. Varsity Boys were 5th of 26 teams, lead by Joe Wiley, followed closely by Parker Van Ostrand. Damon Lin and Nelson McMahon were 3rd and 4th for McClatchy and Ben Yeargain was 5th. The frosh/soph boys took 6th of 14. Jackson Wedel, also in his first cross country race was 1st for McClatchy, with Fletcher Lux only a fraction of a second behind. Other scorers for McClatchy were Ryan Tang, Andrew Yee and Tait de Boer. The frosh/soph girls took 5th of 17 teams, and their top runner was Louie McNatt in 3rd place overall out of 189 runners. She was followed by Anna McNatt, Michelle Wee, Olivia Correia and Larissa Yee. Both frosh/soph teams ran the fastest team times for McClatchy on the Maidu Park course, since we started running it 2016. Finally, we had a lot of improvements; 100% athletes who ran this meet last year improved their times, with most improved going to Kary Soubinh who took 2:06 off her time and Ryan Tang for the boys who dropped 1:29. We will meet at the Nimbus Fish Hatchery, Saturday July, 13th at 7am for a long run around Lake Natoma.
