Lagoon Valley Recap

Great job this weekend at Lagoon Valley! We had some outstanding performances.

Julia won the Frosh/Soph Girls race by over a minute and set a McClatchy record for that course. She is now #3 on the Lagoon Valley All-Time List (That’s for all schools, not just McClatchy). She led the team (Julia, Olivia, Katie, Larissa, Michelle) to a 4th place finish out of 19 teams. Katie wins most improved, with 1:44 faster than last year.

The Frosh/Soph Boys also set some records. The team (Parker, Joe W., Damon, Ben, Sam) took 2nd place out of 27, led by Parker in 1st place with a new McClatchy sophomore record and Joe W. in 2nd with a McClatchy freshman record. Parker, Joe and Damon all made the top 10 list for McClatchy, at #3, #5 and #7. Most improved goes to Sam, with 1:51 faster than last year. Other improvements over last year were Ben 1:28, Damon 1:23 and Parker 0:47.

The Varsity Girls (Justine, Clara, Camille, Astrid, Adrienne) were 7th of 13 teams. Justine led the way in 15th place. She and Clara both made the McClatchy top 10 list at #4 and #10.

The top performance in the Freshmen Boys division was by Ryan, with a 13:58 and the Varsity Boys top runner was Nelson, with an 18:01. Great job everyone!

Oakmont Invite Recap

After a hard week at camp, we still had some outstanding performances at the Oakmont Invite. The Varsity Girls were 7th of 18, with a 3rd place individual finish by Julia. She was also the most improved for the girls this week, running 2:05 faster than last year, and is now #2 on McClatchy’s All-Time list. The Frosh/Soph Girls were 9th of 17, with the top 5 (Olivia, Larissa, Harper, Michelle and Lena) running the fastest ever McClatchy team time for that division.

The Varsity Boys took 10th of 27 teams, led by Parker. Joe Wiley, was 2nd for McClatchy with a McClatchy freshman record for the course. In the Sophomore Boys division, we took 11th of 20, with 3 freshman in our top 5. That team (Ben, Sam, Joe Bogdan, Ryan and Carson) also ran the fastest McClatchy team time for that division.

Other notable improvements over last years times were Henry 2:52, Sam 2:08, Clara 1:25, Ben 1:21, Nelson 0:30 and Camille 0:19.

Summer conditioning is a very important part of preparing for the season! We will start Monday June 25th at 6:30am at the CKM track. In order to participate, you will need to complete some on-line paperwork (link coming soon) and you will need a physical. You should wear comfortable running clothes and good socks and running shoes. You should also bring a water bottle. It is often chilly in the morning, so you should bring/wear sweats.

First Annual Red & White Meet

The first annual Red & White meet on February 24th @ the CKM Track. The first event will be a community 3200m run, open to anyone who wants to run! Entry fee is $5 for middle school students or younger and $10 for adults. Sign up at the link below. Entry fees can be paid the morning of the race starting at 7:30am to 8:30am. There will be a waiver for athletes to sign as well (under 18 athletes will need a parent signature).


State Championships Recap

Clarissa, in her 4th appearance at the State Championships, finished 18th overall out of 192 athletes. She ran an 18:15, which is 10 seconds faster than her previous best on this course. The only other McClatchy girl to run under 19 minutes at Woodward Park is Anne Gunnison, who ran a 18:42 back in 1996. Nice job Clarissa!

The boys team finished 14th, with an average team time of 16:33. Jonah led the team with 27th place overall, in 15:44, a 13 second pr for the course. Amos was second in 16:15, a 28 second pr. Stephen ran 16:23, a course pr by 8 seconds. Marcos was our 4th, running the course for the first time in 17:06. Maceo moved up into the 5th spot, with a course pr of 17:16. Great job!
