First Annual Red & White Meet

The first annual Red & White meet on February 24th @ the CKM Track. The first event will be a community 3200m run, open to anyone who wants to run! Entry fee is $5 for middle school students or younger and $10 for adults. Sign up at the link below. Entry fees can be paid the morning of the race starting at 7:30am to 8:30am. There will be a waiver for athletes to sign as well (under 18 athletes will need a parent signature).


State Championships Recap

Clarissa, in her 4th appearance at the State Championships, finished 18th overall out of 192 athletes. She ran an 18:15, which is 10 seconds faster than her previous best on this course. The only other McClatchy girl to run under 19 minutes at Woodward Park is Anne Gunnison, who ran a 18:42 back in 1996. Nice job Clarissa!

The boys team finished 14th, with an average team time of 16:33. Jonah led the team with 27th place overall, in 15:44, a 13 second pr for the course. Amos was second in 16:15, a 28 second pr. Stephen ran 16:23, a course pr by 8 seconds. Marcos was our 4th, running the course for the first time in 17:06. Maceo moved up into the 5th spot, with a course pr of 17:16. Great job!


Congratulation Varsity Boys for taking the D1 Section Championship!* The team was led by Jonah with a 3rd place finish in 16:10, followed by Amos in 6th place with a 20s PR of 16:26. Derek was 3rd for the team and 14th overall in 16:48.  Despite a few falls and a busted lip, Stephen and Marcos came through for the team with a 16th (16:50) and 30th (17:07) place overall. The boys will be heading down to the State Championships at Woodward Park on November 25th!  Congrats!

The Varsity Girls took fifth with Clarissa finishing 6th overall in 18:54 and qualifying for State Championships for the 4th time.  Sophia also had a strong finish for the girls with a 21st place in 20:41.

The Frosh/Soph Boys (with 4 freshmen & 3 sophomores) took 2nd place in the Sophomore Division, only 3 points behind Jesuit.  They were led by Parker and Nelson, both in 11:41.  Next were Damon and Jackson in 12:00.  Ben rounded out the top 5 with a 12:11.  Colby and Ben also ran well with PRs by 0:39 and 0:53.  All 7 athletes set new PR’s for the course by an average of 37 seconds. 

Brian represented the JV Boys with an 11th place in 18:01 (PR by 0:39) and Clara represented the FS Girls with a 14th place in 14:44 (PR by 0:51).

De La Salle Invite Recap

The Varsity Boys looked strong once again this weekend taking 6th place out of 35 teams. Jonah was 9th of 241 runners in 15:49, followed by Steven and Derek in 16:08 and 16:10. Marcos and Emmett also came in under the 17 minute mark, with a 16:54 and 16:57. The Varsity Girls were 17th of 31 teams, with freshman Julia Heckey and sophomore Camille Combrink running the 3 mile varsity race for the first time in 20:50 and 22:02. The Frosh/Soph Boys took 13th out of 30, with freshmen Damon Lin leading the way in 11:45, followed by Parker and Nelson in 11:49 and 11:59. The JV girls placed 8th of 16 teams and were led by Esmeralda in 14:59, followed by Michelle and Katie in 15:32 and 15:42. Most Improved performances of the week go to Aldo, Jessica, Esmeralda and Damon. Great job everyone!

Great job this weekend!  Varsity boys took first place, with a 1,2,4 finish by Jonah, Stephen and Derek, followed Emmett and Marcos who are moving up and closing the gap for the top 5. The frosh/soph boys also looked strong, finishing in 3rd, not too far behind two of the top teams in the section. Parker, Nelson and Damon led the way with top 10 finishes of 5th, 7th and 8th place. Ben and Jackson also closing the gap for the top 5 with 16th and 17th place finishes. The girls struggled with missing runners to injury, illness and ACT tests, but still turned in some good individual performances. Megan was our top runner for the girls in 15th place. Camille, Paige and Esmeralda continue show great improvements, blowing away their times from last year. Freshmen Katie Kawamoto and Angelina Jensen, along with sophomore Clara McNatt continue to improve as the season progresses.
